EastHORN Clinical Services Announces the Appointment of Iain Gordon as Executive Chairman

EastHORN is pleased to announce the appointment of Iain Gordon as Executive Chairman. Iain succeeds Dr Alan Wood who announced his retirement after more than 11 years in the position.

Iain Gordon commented, “I am delighted to move into this role after having enjoyed more than 8 years working at EastHORN with Alan. I’m also very grateful that Alan has agreed to continue with EastHORN as a Non-Executive Director. With the continued support of Alan and our CEO, Malgosia Szerszeniewska, I am confident that the significant growth we have experienced in recent years will continue. We have exciting plans for the next stages of our development and I look forward to implementing these with the assistance of all our colleagues at EastHORN.”

Gordon continued, “We are also privileged to have been heavily involved in the fight against COVID. In the last 18 months we have been managing trials of vaccines and monoclonal antibodies as well as a range of therapeutics for the treatment of mild and acute symptoms of this disease. Robust and timely clinical research is more important than it has ever been and we intend to continue to promote Europe as a crucial location for antiviral research.”

Iain Gordon graduated from the University of Glasgow and is based in the UK. He has a 25 year career in pharma and contract research. Prior to joining EastHORN in 2013 as Chief Business Officer, Iain had various senior management roles within global research companies. He added, “I have been very fortunate to have worked with some great teams over the years. Of the three CROs I have worked with since the ’90s, prior to joining EastHORN, all enjoyed spectacular levels of growth. There is no doubt that we were in the right place at the right time, but I also like to think that the experienced and dynamic teams I worked with were directly responsible for out-performing even the dramatic growth of the industry as a whole. We have a similarly dynamic team here, and even some of the same people. I have every confidence that, as our industry continues to consolidate, the nimble, flexible and responsive CROs such as ours will play an increasingly important part.”

EastHORN is a Contract Research Organisation managing clinical studies in 25 countries across Europe. With a network of their own offices and staff, extending from Madrid in the west all the way to Tbilisi and St Petersburg in the east, EastHORN has access to more than 850 million potential patients across every therapeutic area.

EastHORN was founded in 2004 and is privately owned by members of its senior management.
